RACE TO HEAVEN,STAY FOCUSED TO BE WISE

Text Matthew 25: 1-13

CONTEXT

• Disciples of JESUS in the previous chapter were asking for the coming of the Kingdom of GOD or the end time
• In Matthew 24:4-31 JESUS said that it will come after considerable time and troubles and then HE told the parable of 10 virgins

THE RACE

1)Preparing to meet the bridegroom

èBeing virgin: set aside for the bride/ JESUS CHRIST

èBeing informed and prepared: The meeting was scheduled at night so the 10 virgins were prepared, they brought their lamp.

Be prepared for attending the wedding and to be equipped correctly

Having a lamp to enlighten the others and your path.

The lamp here could be assimilated to the Word of God and its effect on your life.

A lamp is generally composed by a wick and oil:

• Externally the 10 virgins are the same: They had a shining lamp. But for how long ?
• Shine our light before, during and after the race

Mat 25: 3 “Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.”

The crucial difference between the 10 virgins is internally:

The possession of oil: Holy Spirit.

2) Waiting for the bridegroom but for how long ?

In our life time, the bible said in Psalm 90 : 10-12 “10 Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; _ 12 “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom”

So, at least we have an information that our life in earth may last for 70 or 80, so it is a long race

A WISE CHRISTIAN is set aside, informed, knowledgeable that the race will last

2) Waiting for the bridegroom but for how long ?

• In our Christian race to win: We NEED A HELPER/COACH, A COMFORTER, A GUIDE  in The HOLY SPIRIT
• The HOLY SPIRIT is completing the work of JESUS CHRIST in us. JESUS Himself said in John 16: 7 that, “He will send the Holy Spirit to  be our Helper”

A WISE CHRISTIAN walk with the HOLY SPIRIT along his way /race

Waiting for the bridegroom but for how long ?

• The HOLY SPIRIT is completing our education as Christian (John 16: 13- 14)
• Make a reserve of your oil.
•  Don’t be distracted by what’s happening around you, focus on your objective: admission to heaven

A WISE CHRISTIAN listen to the voice of  the Holy Spirit to stay focused in his long term horizon: Heaven
